Anyone alive in the mid to late 1950's will remember the song "Honeycomb"
I remember the song as a very refreshing change of pace from the wide array of rock and roll songs that permeated the mid-1950's. "Dancing on the Moon" is an autobiography of Jimmie Rodgers which gives a very clear picture of where he came from, how Honeycomb changed his life, and how a tragic event ten years later, changed his life even more dramatically.
While being raised in very modest circumstances in the northwest, Jimmie had a great love and talent for singing. "Dancing on the Moon" follows Jimmie's life from his early days in a small town in Washington State, through his service in the military in the early 1950's, on to his instant success and popularity after recording "Honeycomb" in 1957. For the next few years, Jimmie would tour with, and get to know personally, many of the top celebrity stars in that era, including Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash and Elvis Pressley. However, this was all changed in an instant, when in one night in 1967 Jimmie was brutally attacked by an unknown assailant, for an unknown reason, and suffered head and brain injuries which would alter his life forever.
The book is very well written and is a wonderful story of how one man's life was so affected by tragedy, buy yet through his pure determination and finding a new and closer relationship with God, Jimmie regained his life and now lives perhaps a more productive and happier life than he had ever known before.
I would highly recommend reading this book, in that it is a true inspirational book and walks us through, in much detail, what life was like for a "music super-star" back in the late 1950's and 1960's. If you like reading the history of music and you like reading about determination, inspiration and over-coming life's hardships, then read this book.

"Dancing on the Moon" The Jimmie Rodgers Story
The autobiography of Jimmie Rodgers, the golden voiced singer who sold millions of records during the 50's and 60's is a profound and verbal gem. Written in what is both poetic and lyrical style he tells the story of an incredible life experience. Covering over 70 years of his life and unique music talent that began in a small Washington state town with humble and simple beginnings that served as a foundation to what direction and changes would later occur.
His military service in the Air Force and the tour of duty in Korea did effect and change his life.
However, the power of his story is how he dealt with adversity. It was during the peak of his extremely successful music career that a mysterious and tragic event occurred that brought him to near death on a number of occasions that until now (and the publishing of this book) have remained unknown by the public.
What makes "Dancing on the Moon" such a fascinating story is the love, truth, "never give up" attitude, and faith in God found on every page. We highly recommend "Dancing on the Moon, The Jimmie Rodgers Story"
